For The Love Of Art - Truck Show and Craft Sale!

Hey everyone. Check out this show I'll be participating in. It's the first of the year and I'm bringing my inventory of hats that you will have access to ONLY on this day. This is before my fashion show and a good time to pick up some deals. Come on by and support local artists! We really need the help right now. Business is slow in January and we need the sales and mostly we just need the support. It's hard working at home in the winter and the off season. I've been stuck inside for hours and hours just sewing and working. It would REALLY help me to see some shiney happy faces. Come by and remind us why we work so hard!

New Hats!

Finally photographing some of the hats I had left over from last year. Cleaning house! I'm going to be focusing on new styles soon and standardizing a lot of this. Still going to have unique ones too! Hopefully having an inventory will help with this. So here are the hats I listed today! All available here: www.lolly-tots.com

I'M UPDATING MY SHOPS!

Ok guys I don't want to spam you. That's not the idea of this blog at all! I will have to do a little of that right now because YES this is actually news.

I'm cleaning out the studio and in the process of super organizing and purging of crafty bits and old products. I have found some gems though that I wanted to post in my etsy shop. I have this super cute collection of paintings that I've been holding on to all year and then lost and forgot about. They are going to be available on etsy over this month and I'll try and list a few every day. I got a good selection of the paintings on there today. Each one is one of a kind and hand drawn/painted. I'm selling a few at a super low price too because I want to pass these on and give them a good home.

Also I am proud to announce that I am finally posting hats this year! I am going through my stock and working on new designs and my etsy shop and lolly-tots website will be filled with new hat goodness. This year forward I will only be posting hats that I have finished and ready to ship. I got bogged down last year with requests for sewing and I simply can not keep up or manage to sew enough. I hope this opens my time up for more custom jobs and business management time. This way you are guaranteed a hat within a couple days and I will not get stressed out with all my sewing orders!

Check out the first one of the year! Super cute black kitty hat with lime green lining. I love this combo so much I might make it a standard. Available in my etsy shop and website.

TODAY IS MY ETSY ANNIVERSARY! 4 years running! That means 4 years of trial and error. 4 years of working towards my dream. 4 years of meeting new etsy friends and growing in the community. WOW Etsy has come so far right? What an amazing site.. it launched me that's for sure.

That is all my spamyness for today!
I will update you all soon on the fashion show plans and my new designs.
I also need to take more studio shots to show you my workspace. I got it super organized now!
This blog is seriously lacking in tutorials and fashion goodness! I will fix that in the coming months. There is going to be so much to share too! I am super excited about this year and sharing it with all of you. :)

FIREWORK!!

This is my warrior cry for 2011. I will NOT HOLD BACK this year. No more hiding in the corner. It's time to shine! It's time to be a firework!

"If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow"

Maybe I had to go through all that shit and all that pain to really see who I was inside. I was so hurt! I thought.. why me? Why did this happen to me? What did I do to deserve it? Why did I lose my job? Why did I get kicked out of my apartment?  It's all been leading up to something. New doors were opened. Now the rainbow fills my life and I will rise above everything that I was before. Like a phoenix rising from the flames!

Inside of all of you is this spark and the only thing holding you back is fear. There is a revolution rising right now. Will you be a part of it? Will you shed the layer of insecurities? Will you rise above your misfortune? Will you stop making excuses and start being the beautiful wonderful passionate person inside?

NOW IS THE TIME!!

BE THE FIREWORK!!

The Job of my dreams

I wish I had this much passion for my previous jobs. It would have been awesome to work for a company that I could stand behind proudly. That I could work for a company that would be so great I would rave about it to all my friends and try to get everyone to come in and be a customer or client. I would love working there. I would love all my co-workers. I would love the work that we did and know that it was making a difference in people's lives.

I never had a job like that.

I loved my co-workers. I had some great bosses. I never was passionate about my work though. I never could stand behind the company. I always was a tiny bit ashamed of where I worked. I was a tiny bit ashamed of my career. What did I really give back to the world? Another flyer? Another cd case that they would just throw away? Another brochure that no one would really read? Who cares if that business card is designed super awesome.. does anyone even care or notice?

I guess I could have tried harder to find a job that I loved. I could have searched and interviewed and I would have eventually found a JOB that would make me feel fullfilled.

Is it that I didn't want to wait? Was I too impatient? In the end I feel that I wouldn't be able to really be fullfilled in my career unless I was in control of the company. I don't meet many people with my values. They are few and far between! I didn't want to wait.. I didn't want to waste time searching. I knew I had it in me to create this job and this new career.

Now I am creating a business that will bring in people that have the same drive in life that I do. I am finding others with my passion! I am finding the people I wanted to work with.

I created my job. I created a whole new career.

Is this the best choice?
Should I have waited?
Would that job be out there still waiting for me?

I am taking initiative. I am creating this career. The work, the money, the customers.. they will find me. I am MAKING it happen instead of waiting for it to happen. Nothing really comes from waiting around. You have to dive in! You have to make mistakes! How else could I meet these people I want to work with? How else can I be friends with rockstars? How else can I be friends with movers and shakers and empire builders?

It was the biggest risk of my life. Now I have the job of my dreams.
I think it was worth it. :)

Hoppy New Years!

I was a giant pink bunny for New Years this year. I worked so hard on this outfit and this hat and I'm glad it came together so well! I was so overworked over Christmas and I hardly updated this blog and I hardly even had any sort of fun. I took a week off to rest and work on my other sewing projects. I got a LOT done. I feel so much better. I had the BEST NEW YEARS OF MY LIFE!

I had a whole crew on the dance floor with my hats. I am really starting to reach people and my world is changing around me. My hats are taking over my life.. they are everywhere with me! From the dance floor to the grocery store you can find any reason to wear a silly hat! It makes your night so much better. It makes people laugh! I'm so happy I brought in this new year in full lolly-tots style. HELL YEAH.

Cupcake Sewing Machine

This is the exact same model as my sewing machine! I don't know if I can handle that many buttons when I'm working though. What a cute idea!
